Lyrics

Verse 1:  “Do not weep for Me” proclaimed the Savior to the crowd, With crimson stripes across His back and thorns upon His brow. Outside the city walls they led Him up to Calvary, No greater love from heaven above and all for you and me.
Verse 2: The tears, the sweat, the blood flowed down while on His knees He prayed, With swords the angry mob drew ’round, by Judas was betrayed. They lied, they spat, they mocked His name and shouted “Crucify!” God’s innocent lamb, His glorious plan, and in Him justified.
Verse 3: His hands and feet were nailed, His body lifted from the earth, The crowd and passerby looked on but cared not for His worth. The blood He shed, the words He said while on that cruel tree, The final breath that bro’t His death, the death that sets us free.
Verse 4: I turn to life, I turn to Him, His steps before me lay, Tho’ tired and weary I become and burdened day by day. No matter if I live or die or all my world gives way, I’ll bear His cross, not fear the cost and faithful to Him stay.
Chorus: Tho’ tossed upon the seas of life or bro’t down to my knees, There’s life and light and joy ahead, our Savior holds the keys. “Be strong My child, another mile by faith we now can see! Just take My hand, beside Me stand and do not weep for Me.”
