R. J. Stevens and Tim Stevens have a sincere desire to encourage Christians everywhere to worship God in spirit and in truth as the Bible teaches. The commands to sing, pray, give, teach and partake of the Lord’s Supper are all acts of worship that must be done to the best of one’s ability to please the Lord and to edify others.

R. J. Stevens has been teaching singing schools for over fifty years. His father, M. Roy Stevens, was also a singing school teacher and gave him a good foundation when he was young. He said his father loved congregational singing more than anyone he has ever known. His father was also a faithful preacher of the gospel. His father died in 1968. R. J. has also encouraged his son, Tim Stevens, to sing praises to God and to teach others the importance of worshipping God in song. For the past thirty years, Tim has worked with his father in singing schools and sang with him in the Favorite Hymns Quartet. Tim is also co-author of the workbook which is being used as the basis for the song leading DVD that is now available. Their goal has always been to encourage song leaders to improve their abilities so that they will be able to glorify God more effectively in their worship.

SONG LEADERS

The success of good congregational singing in a worship service depends largely upon the spirit and enthusiasm of the song leader. The singing of a local church is usually never better than the leader. Therefore, leaders are taught to lead the congregation to the best of their abilities. They are told that they are not just song leaders, but song worship leaders. They are taught to make sure their hearts are in tune before their voices are in tune. R. J. and Tim’s goal is to teach song leaders how to pitch and direct songs correctly. This will help make the songs come to life and be more effective in worship. They have taught hundreds of men and boys to lead God’s people in song worship. They do this to the glory of God and not for the praise of men.
